On September 9, 2017, at the Conference Hall "Georgy Baev", Cultural Center "Sea Casino", Burgas, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics organise the National Information Day “Serious Games as Contemporary Tools for New Educational Applications”, to present scholarly and scholarly-practical outcomes of the “Serious Education Games as Contemporary Tools for New Educational Applications” project, Contract № ДСД-2/05.04.2017 between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, activity “Introduction of Contemporary Methods in Educating and Fostering Young Talent” (ПМС № 347). The Information Day starts at 9 am.
Еxhibition "Between God and People” presents unique images of bells from all over Bulgaria

Within the framework of Seventh International Conference on Digital Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage - DiPP2017 organized under the patronage of UNESCO, the exhibition "Between God and People" of unique bells from all over Bulgaria will be presented. The posters contain pictures from the BELLKNOW Fund of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS), bell passports, audio and video information on the bells made using modern multimedia technologies.
The opening of the exhibition is on 7 September 2017 at 5 pm in the Sea Casino in Burgas. The organizers are the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Regional Academic Center - Bourgas, BAS.
All of the Bulgarian students came home with awards from the International Linguistics Olympiad in Dublin

This year's International Linguistics Olympiad, held between June, 31st and August. 4th in Dublin, Ireland, welcomed 160 participants from 27 countries around the globe. Bulgaria was represented by two teams of four students each.
Our country scored its best performance yet, winning 3 gold medals, 1 silver, 3 bronze and a Hononourable Mention. All of the Bulgarian students returned with awards from the prestigious event. So far, our participants have brought home a total of 57 medals – 15 gold, 17 silver and 25 bronze.
Assoc. Prof. PhD Ivan Derzhanski and Lyubomir Zlatkov from the “Mathematical Linguistics” department of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics contributed to the preparation and the training of the Bulgarian teams.
Vice President Iliana Iotova Opened The Second International Conference MATHEMATICS DAYS IN SOFIA 2017

The Second International Conference MATHEMATICS DAYS IN SOFIA was opened on July 10, 2017. The conference is organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (IMI) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". The confenrece is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of IMI.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Iliana Iotova, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Ivan Dimov, the Chairperson of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, Prof. Diana Petkova. Academician Julian Revalski, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, who is also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the conference, welcomed the participants and the guests of the event and wished them a fruitful and successful work.
The conference was opened by the Vice President, Ms. Iliyana Iotova. She offered her congratulations to the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics for the successful cooperation with a number of universities and research centers all over the world and expressed her appreciation of the longstanding and successful work with the young Bulgarian talents.
The Director of IMI, Acad. Vesselin Drensky, presented to the attenadants the history and achievements of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2017. You can read his speech here.
