The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, jointly with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Plovdiv University, the Association for Development of Information Society, the Bulgarian section of the Association for Information Systems, the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians and the Union of Bulgarian Scientists are to hold a Jubilee Conference on Informatics on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of prof. Peter Burnev.

Prof. Peter Burnev is one of the founders of the Informatics division at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS, he was the founder and head of the software department, deputy director of the Joint Center of Mathematics and Informatics for many years, Vice Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians for long time, founder and first chair of the Association for Development of the Information Society.

Guest of honor of the conference will be the wife of Prof. Burnev, Associate Professor Maria Burneva, who is the first female informatician in Bulgaria.
The Jubille Conference will be attended by more than 60 researchers and experts in the field of informatics.

The conference will be held on November 12 and 13, in the Multimedia Room "Acad. Stefan Dodunekov" in the building of IMI, Acad. Georgi Bonchev Street, Block 8.

The conference program includes:
• Session dedicated to the contribution of Prof, Burnev to the development of informatics and information society - educator and teacher of many informaticians in Bulgaria;
• Session on the past, present and future of informatics in Bulgaria;
• Session with research talks on informatics.
During the Conference, on November 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in IMI, Prof. Atanas Radenski (Chapman University, USA) will host a forum on Big Data Gathering, Storage, Processing and Visualization.
