Academician Blagovest Sendov Celebrates his 85th Anniversary

Today the prominent Bulgarian mathematician academician Blagovest Sendov celebrates his 85th birthday. In a talk entitled The beauty of polynomials the remarkable scientist will greet his colleagues at the National Colloquium of Mathematics of the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians in the Conference Room of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics. The Colloquium is headed by Acad. Peter Popivanov.

By its Statute, the IMI Mathematics Prize is awarded to a Bulgarian citizen for excellent achievements in Mathematics. Candidates for the prize must not be older than 40 on the 1-st of January of the year in which the prize is given.

At the ceremony held on December 9 this year, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics awarded Professor Asen Donchev with a Medal with ribbon for his significant contribution to the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics and to modern science.
