The annual international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2017) is taking place from 25th to 30th June 2017 at Skukuza Camp in Kruger Park, South Africa, and is hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and the SARChI Chair on Mathematical Models and Methods in Bioengineering and Biosciences at University of Pretoria.
The conference is coorganized by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.
The conference continues a tradition of scientific meetings on Biomathematics held in Bulgaria since 1995 (see Biomath forum). It is supported by several research units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences several Universities (such as the Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski", Technical University Sofia, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski", South-West University "Neofit Rilski"), as well as the Union of the Bulgarian Mathematicians. The BIOMATH conference is also supported by the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) and the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ESMTB).
