The Rose and Irving Saff Award in mathematics was founded by prof. Edward Saff from Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, USA, who is a foreign member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in memory of his parents..
It is awarded each year to a mathematics student for high achievements and excellence in mathematics.
In 2014 the Rose and Irving Saff Award is awarded to Velislav Bodurov - a third year student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University, for his excellent results, great curiosity and thoroughness.
He has diverse interests in the fields of algebra, functional analysis, measure theory, dynamical systems, partial differential equations, and in applied mathematics and programming.
Velislav Bodurov was also a bronze medalist of the Sixth Student Olympiad in mathematics for Southeast Europe (SEEMOUS) in 2012. He won a diploma and a gold medal at the Second National Student Olympiad in Computational Mathematics "Stefan Dodunekov" held in October 2013 in Rousse.
