Seminars and Colloquia
The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics is an independent permanent research unit in BAS and carries out its activities in accordance with the Act of BAS, the BAS Charter and the institute's interior rules of procedure, within the current legislation. The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics is a multidisciplinary academic institution with the primary task of raising the level of all activities in the country associated with the development, implementation and reproduction of mathematics and informatics.
IMI operates 19 permanent research seminars, including the National Seminar on Informatics and the National Seminar on Probability and Statistics. As a rule, foreign scholars who visit IMI also give talks at these seminars.
The National Colloquium in Mathematics is organised by the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians and IMI and organised on IMI's premises.

- National Seminar on Probability and Statistics — organised by the Department of Operation Research, Probability and Statistics, held on Wednesday from 3pm in IMI room 403.
- National Seminar on Informatics
- Algebra and Logic — organised by the Department of Algebra and Logic.
- Approximation Theory — organised by the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis.
- Biomathematics and Scientific Computing — organised by the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis, held once in two weeks.
- Coding Theory — organised by the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Informatics.
- Colloquium on Mathematical Logic — organised by the Department of Algebra and Logic, jointly with the Department of Mathematical Logic and Its Applications, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.
- Computational Mathematics — organised by the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis.
- Didactic Modelling — organised by the Department of Education in Mathematics and Informatics, held once in two weeks on Mondays from 2·30pm in IMI room 478.
- Differential Equations — organised by the Department of Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics, held on Wednesday from 2·15pm in IMI room 478.
- Joint Seminar of Analysis, Geometry and Topology Department — organised by the Department of Analysis, Geometry and Topology
- Operations Research — organised by the Department of Operations Research, Probability and Statistics held once in two weeks on Tuesdays from 2pm in room 403.
