Algebra and Logic Seminar
The next meeting of the seminar will be held on July 11, 2014 (Friday), at 11:00, in Room 578 of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
A talk on
THE GEOMETRY OF ARC SPACES
will be delivered by Prof. Peter Petrov (Universidade Federal de Alagoas, Brazil).
Everybody is invited.
Abstract.
The arc spaces have been introduced by J. Nash to study the singular locus of algebraic varieties. In this talk we will define the jet and arc spaces of given variety, with some basic properties demonstrated on examples. We will formulate the Nash problem and review the main results proved about it. In the last part of the talk we will formulate the Griberg_Kazhdan-Drinfeld theorem about formal neighborhoods of closed arcs, and propose some generalization of it in the case of morphisms
